II.2. Publicity of Services

CARA Society shall use different ways to advertise its services, including posters, leaflets, newspapers adverts, building its own website and by post, in order to encourage people from the community to use its services. In all its adverts the society shall prioritise people in need, and ensure that the profile of users reflects the aims of the service and meets the needs of users and funders.

II.3. Monitoring service users and types of enquiries

The Central Africa's Rights and AIDS Society shall monitor service users and type of enquiries by keeping a record of how many people are seen and what types of enquiries they bring. This shall provide the society with data to share in its annual report. These figures, added with other collected details such as gender, age range and ethnic origin, if kept on a weekly or monthly basis, shall help the society to see fluctuations over time. The Management Committee shall evaluate the figures and the society's staff shall refer to them when planning services.

Service users shall be asked to complete a simple monitoring form that aims to let the individual user self-define and the form shall comprise details about the user, the work of CARA Society, the subject that the user has approached the society about and fine cross-subject category detail.

II.4. Consultation with service users about services

CARA Society shall consult service users in order to demonstrate its commitment to Equal Opportunities Policy and address its accountability. Service users shall be consulted by either calling meetings for users to come to give their views or send out questionnaires, surveys and talk to user groups once or twice every year depending on funding.

II.5. Referral arrangements

As there are acknowledgeable limits in the services provided, CARA Society shall not be able to meet all the needs of its service users. For this reason, referrals shall be appropriate. Our society already has some links and shall also continue to make more links with local, national and international groups and find out what services they are able to provide. However service users shall not be automatically referred to someone since the society shall always be committed to making sure via referral arrangements that the awareness of staff is raised, and that they are able to recognise issues of discrimination.

II.6. Campaign/Social Policy work

CARA Society is committed to using the information gathered from users to lobby for change or raise awareness of the impact of legislation on individuals or groups of users. It intends to use the society's social policy work to highlight discriminatory practices. When planning, for instance to change its services, the society shall hold meetings for users of the service to come and give their views - send out questionnaires, surveys and talk to user groups.

II.7. Challenging discriminatory behaviour

CARA Society is totally committed to identifying and challenging inequalities and any discriminatory behaviours, which arise from individual's race, class, sex, sexual orientation or disability. Having an absolute commitment valuing diversity, which means that our organisation recognises that everyone has a contribution to make so that we can all enjoy living and working together, CARA Society shall challenge discriminatory comments or behaviour and it shall constantly monitor its Equal Opportunities Policy to ensure that it works for everyone in the community, including users as well as workers. This is because we all believe in equality and challenge discrimination and exclusion wherever they can be found. Our organisation is made up of diverse communities, women, men, children and elderly people with potential from very different backgrounds, races, religions and cultures. As we continue to live in a society, which too often excludes and marginalizes, CARA Society understand that that potential is often ignored.

Our society aims to support staffs with training on the Equal Opportunities Policy as this shall allow them to have a clear policy about what they must do to challenge discriminatory comments or behaviours and carry out these challenges and to refer them to the Public Relations Officer.
