All of us may need health and social care services at some point in our lives.
Health and Social Care
Social Care is part of the Central Africa’s Rights and AIDS (CARA) Society’s work in the community. We provide advice, support and practical help for adults, children and families living in Hackney and the surrounding areas.
Many of our services are provided directly by our own staff. However, we also arrange and pay for services which are provided by other organisations such as voluntary groups and the private sector. Many of our services are provided in partnership with the National Health Service.
We aim to offer advice and practical help so that older people and people with mental health or learning disabilities or physical and sensory impairments, can continue to live safely and independently in their own homes for as long as possible through our home care services. If living at home is no longer possible, residential care is available.
Social Services also provide support for those people that are caring for others.
We offer support to families and work to promote and safeguard the welfare of children. Our aim is to look after children whose own families are unable to care for them, either during a temporary crisis, or until they become adults.
CARA Society can help Social Services and City Councils to recruit foster carers from our community to look after children and young people who, for many different reasons, are not able to live with their own families.
