We offer a free telephone advice session on employment law on Tuesday and Thursday mornings between 10.00 a.m. and 12.00 noon. The telephone number is 020 7254 6415. This telephone service is staffed by one of our specialist employment and discrimination workers. We are happy to give advice over the telephone or to take on cases that need our specialist advocacy and representation skills. But please note that we will only advise you if you live in the UK. If you think that you will need an appointment or representation then it is best to call the advice line first. This will ensure that you get an appointment at the right time with either Mr Abdilahi Dahir Nur or Mr Tampu-Eya and that the relevant information is obtained at the start. We advise on working hours, right to paid holidays, breach of contract, off for caring for dependents, the minimum wage, grievance and disciplinary matters, maternity rights, dismissal, redundancy and discriminationat work on grounds of sex, race or disability, or any other employment related matter. Our advisors are particular experts in representation and advocacy at Employment Tribunals and Employment Appeal Tribunals. We have written a range of leaflets on common employment issues. These can be downloaded from this website or collected from CARA. Compromise agreements Have you been dismissed? Have you been made redundant? Has your employer offered you a Compromise Agreement? Not sure what to do next? In order for a compromise agreement to be legally binding you are required to obtain independent legal advice. CARA has three qualified Employment Law Legal advisers who can advise you in relation to the termination of your employment and on the terms of the Compromise Agreement. We may be able to negotiate further with your employer to obtain a better settlement for you. Most employers offer to make a contribution to the cost of obtaining this advice; however, often this is not enough to cover the cost of employing the services of your local High Street Solicitor. CARA is a not for profit organisation and we will not ask for any additional payment for any work done on your behalf. For peace of mind and for friendly professional advice contact CARA and ask for an appointment with one of our legal advisers.
