Promoting Justice

CARA recruits and trains volunteers to provide free legal advice, assistance and representation to community members and the public on low income throughout the United Kingdom. Volunteers include: solo practitioners; administrative staff, associates and partners from small, mid-sized and large law firms in United Kingdom; corporate in-house legal departments; and students from a number of area law schools. We provide free services to financially eligible clients referred from community organizations. CARA Society is supported entirely by gifts and grants.

Our volunteers have made a difference in the lives of many. They have assisted:

  • A cancer patient executes a will, health care proxy and advanced directive so that his wishes were made known.
  • A child with quadriplegia secures a breath-propelled wheelchair in order to live more independently rather than in a nursing home.
  • A child with autism receive special education services denied her but to which she was entitled.

There are thousands more like them who need help yet do not have the funds to retain legal assistance. CARA Society’s volunteers, funders and community partners work together to help meet the need.
